SiliSerh Lake - Perfect place for a day out around Delhi!

On around midnight of Saturday, March 30, 2013, Me and my friend Malkeet Singh (the hemkunt sahib bike trip buy) were enjoying ‘little little’ of Blender’s Pride at my home. As usual, travel plans always happens after 3-4 pegs, Malkeet said: “yaar bike trip ka mann kar raha hai, koi jagah bata jo Monday subah tak ghar aa jayein”….  I could not and cannot say no to any of such instant unplanned travel plans.
I googled a bit and found this place to my interest, SiliSerh Lake, Alwar in the vicinity of Sariska TigerLess reserve:
I do not have a panorama option in my DSLR otherwise I would have shown you how huge it is..

All you need for such instant unplanned travel plans:
1.       A friend like Malkeet Singh who can ride/pillion ride with you upto the end of any of the National Highway (last time we were at the end of NH 58, Delhi-Mana Village, the last Indian village as they call)
2.       A bike so reliable (Yamaha FZS) that you don’t even have to bother about the Tool kit (yes we didn’t have one)
3.       A basic DSLR (Canon 550D) with a Zoom lense like Tamron 70-300
4.       A few bucks to fuel up the bike with petrol and yourself with TUBORG
5.       A phone with GPS and preloaded maps like Mapmyindia
And you may get set go!!!

Back to travelogue:
We had around 35 hrs to travel to a place and report back to home..err .. office..
Pleces that struck suitable for such time constraint ex-Delhi were Nainitaal, Mussourie, Neelkanth, Rishikesh and Morni hills and Siliserh Lake
I had never been to Siliserh lake and hence zeroed out on it to experience something new.
We kicked start the highly reliable Yamaha FZS and headed to experience this new place.

We reached Siliserh Lake at 6:15 in the morning and were surprised to find such a huge water body in this arid region. The lake is about 5-7 sqkms. Here is the beauty of the Lake.

More surprise to come… we were told by the locals that this place even has a Waterfall…. ????
Yes, that too with a slight stream flowing throughout the year….

I was also amazed to see this natural colossal Edifice:

the Colossal Edifice.!

And here comes the most overwhelming thing to know: the lake is home to n number of Crocodiles!!
See for yourself,

While looking to capture a crocodile in the bush, we unknowingly stepped too close, around 10 feet to one of the river monster (it is extremely unlikely to spot any wild creature in their natural habitat as animals are masters of camouflage). When I figured out something in the bush I said, “dekh yaar ek waha pe Mara pada hai”..  and Malkeet said “abbey zinda hai aur hamari taraf hi dekh raha hai.. bhaag yahaan se”….. I don’t know why and how I took a Pic of that monster.. and here it is…..
this pic was a quick snap without any zoom... and we ran away!! thank god... you can zoom in an look into the monster's eye staring at us.

Time for lunch break and believe me “Saansu Ji Ki Dhaani” is the only good, infact excellent restaurant at Siliserh Lake..

We had couple of TUBORG in the open and left for Delhi……

Some more pics....

these birds are almost extinct in Delhi

Captured .. 'The Original Angry Bird'  !! ;)

One day of outing that is equivalent to 3 days of fun and adventure….. and it happens only at SiliSerh Lake..
I have been to this place thrice in the last 10 months and never got bored.

Here are some more pics from the other two outings:

Road less travelled..!

Be there if you want to leave Delhi early in the morning and back to home by your bedrest time.. KeeP TrAvelling…!  J
